The 16th ranked Buckeyes had their unbeaten streak ended Sunday with a 5-1 loss to #4 Michigan State. Ohio State is now (7-2-1, 3-1-0) this season. Michigan State improves to (8-1-1, 3-0-1) this season.
Michigan State was first on the scoreboard with a goal at the 13:16 mark. The Buckeyes tied the match with a goal by Alex Nichols at 39:08 with an assist by Nate Kohl. The Spartans regained the lead a minute later with a goal at the 40:42 mark to head into intermission with a 2-1 lead..
Michigan State effectively put this match away with a goal at the 65:11 mark, followed by goals at 68:04 and 87:55.
A nice start for Ohio State, then they lost their aim. The Buckeyes would have 10 more shots in regulation, none on goal. Their third, and final SoG was in the 1st OT period.

Goalie Parker Siegfried had 2 saves and allowed 2 goals in 45 minutes of action. Freshman goalie Xavier Kennedy made his collegiate debut by playing the 2nd half. Xavier allowed 3 goals and made 3 saves. Quite a way to begin a college career.
Getting back to the offense for a moment, several players were active for Ohio State. Alex Nichols had 2 shots and the only goal. Nate Kohl had the only assist. Joshua Jackson-Ketchup had 1 shot which was on goal and Abdi Mohamed had 2 shots.
Ohio State hosts Maryland on Friday evening. The match is set for Friday, October 6th at 7:30 pm.
