The women’s volleyball team has started the 2018 season by going 3-0; with wins against the University of Albany on Friday, August 24 – 3-1; Ohio University on Saturday, August 25th – 3-0; and Texas A&M on Saturday, August 25th – 3-0.

This nice beginning has been led by Middle blocker Lauren Witte who has come out swinging to start her sophomore campaign, earning co-Big Ten Player of the Week for her hard work. It is the first honor of her career in a Buckeye uniform. She currently leads the Buckeyes with 37 kills. Also, in on the act of winning has been Opposite Hitter Vanja Bukilic with 27 kills; Outside Hitter Mia Grunze with 25 kills, and 25 digs. Defensive Specialist Camry Halm leads the Buckeyes with 30 digs. Some great contributions have come from Middle Blocker Jordan Fry, Outside Hitter Adria Powell, and Outside Hitter Bia Franklin.

The Buckeyes now travel South to Oxford, Mississippi where they will meet up with Southern Mississippi on Friday, August 31 – who are also 3-0 with wins against Spring Hill College, Alcorn State, and East Carolina University.

There is a lot of volleyball to go for the season. The Big Ten season begins on September 19th against the Wisconsin Badgers. The season ends on November 24th against the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Here at Buffalo Buckeye we will stay in the loop with all the news and scores for the Women’s Volleyball team and pass it onto our readers. Let us sit back in our seats and prepare for a wondrous season…. though the Buckeyes are currently not ranked within the top 25 – I am suspecting that will not be the final view come the last tick of the clock in late November.

Now – for stats junkies, such as me, enjoy:
